Lockdown 30/47 – It is not this day!

Day 30 of my diary of a LOTR Fan Museum owner during our national lockdown (extended from 28 to 47 days: 33 at level 4, 14 at L3) – in NZ we’re uniting as a country to beat Covid-19 to break the chain and save lives, but …

My new job of STAY HOME, be kind, is pretty much unchanged as NZ moves to L3 at the end of this holiday weekend. Like many fellow Kiwis, I often watch the government’s daily updates about Covid-19 and how we’re managing it. Yesterday, the government further clarified what will be permitted at the new level.

And, that’s when it happened. The PM used a turn of phrase indicating she’d done a bit of LOTR viewing to prep for her speech, and I’m thinking she must be a LOTR fan!!! When describing the rules around hunting (not orcs!) she channeled Aragorn, saying some things will change at L2 “but it is not this day”.

Our PM is a pretty good communicator and has now become a pretty well known international figure. This revealing phrase may have uncovered one of her secrets! Below, I’ve posted a fave photo of where she was expecting her child and visiting the Queen – she looks so staunch and a brilliant ambassador for us (she’s wearing a ceremonial korowai (cloak)). Go Jacinda, lead the charge - for Frodo … for NZ!

Here’s to everyone out there who is a closet LOTR fan. Go for it! Let it inspire you at this time! And don’t worry, you’re in good company and your secret is safe with me. Best wishes, Kathy xx
